Dr. Susan Sigward, PHD, PT, ATC

Director of Biomechanics and Sports Performance Lab

Dr. Susan Sigward specializes in biomechanical assessment of joint mechanics as they pertain to safe and optimal participation in sports and physical activities. She is recognized nationally and internationally for her research on prevention and rehabilitation of knee injuries in athletes and active individuals.  Her active research programs focus on: Improving Outcomes Following ACL reconstruction and Identification of Biomechanical Risk Factors for ACL injury. She is passionate about making research grade technology and insights accessible to the athlete, patient and clinical team for improved training and clinical decision making.

Dr. Sigward is an Associate Professor, Director of the Master’s Program in Biokinesiology- Sports Science and Director of the Human Performance Research Laboratory in in the Division of Biokinesiology & Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California. She practiced as a physical therapist and athletic trainer for 10 years before returning to school and earned her Doctor of Philosophy, Biokinesiology from the University of Southern California in 2004. She was a Post-Doctoral Fellow, Biomechanics, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, UCLA from 2004-2005. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Anatomy from Wright State University (1999) in and a BS in Physical Therapy from Saint Louis University (1990).

Dr. Sigward is a highly published PHD in ACL and other topics.
