Dr. Sean Johnson, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS

Senior Therapist - Meyer Institute of Sport

Specializing in athletic rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, injury prevention, and sports performance training, Dr. Johnson combines skilled manual therapy techniques coupled with therapeutic exercise prescription to provide patient/athlete centered care.

Dr. Johnson earned his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2008 and graduated from the Orthopedic Residency at USC in 2009. Dr. Johnson is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS), a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a certified provider of Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) therapy, a certified practitioner in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), a certified stick mobility specialist, and an OnBase U Pitching and Hitting certified specialist.

Sean spent the first 9 years of his career post residency as full-time clinical faculty at USC including patient-care and teaching responsibilities. Dr. Johnson served as Interim Clinic Director for the University Park Campus Faculty Practice at USC from 2015-2016. Dr. Johnson has a passion for teaching and has taught continuing education throughout the US and internationally. Sean served as the Major League Physical Therapist and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Los Angeles Angels from 2016-2021. Dr. Johnson also served as the Manager of Athlete Care for the Seattle Mariners in 2021 where he oversaw the performance side of the High-Performance Department for the organization.

Professional leadership has been a passion for Sean throughout his entire career. Dr. Johnson was elected to serve on the California Physical Therapy Association’s Board of Directors as a Director from 2015-2017 and a Charter Board member of the Professional Baseball Society where he served as the American League Representative from 2018-2021. Dr. Johnson is the founder and Charter President of the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy Black Alumni Association.
